Employee Gifts and Gratuities
Grady Memorial Hospital Policy
Employees of Grady Memorial Hospital shall not accept nor offer any gifts, gratuities/tips, or other items of value that may impair or appear to impair our honest, ethical and professional business dealings, or affect/influence decision-making or actions.
Gifts to clinicians or referral sources that exceed normal business courtesy and/or have a value exceeding $50.00 are prohibited. Cash gifts to referral sources are prohibited. Non-cash gifts are permissible only if made without regard to the volume of business received from a referral source.
Employees may accept and offer reasonable non-cash expressions of courtesy and hospitality of nominal value such as (1) meals and entertainment associated with an authorized business activity, or meeting, (2) unsolicited promotional material such as pens, calendars, notepads, (3) holiday gifts of nominal value, and (4) unsolicited gifts of flowers, candy, or similar items, given to a shift or unit. Nominal value is understood to mean modest and reasonable, generally a value of $50.00 or less. Gifts that violate the policy should be returned to the donor and reported to the Compliance Officer.
Persons wishing to make a financial donation or gift to the hospital should be forwarded to Administration. The hospital has established the Grady Memorial Hospital Foundation as a legally organized entity to accept gifts in behalf of the hospital.
